Enbrel & Toblerone Bars

So I've had a reaction to my Enbrel shot from Wednesday night – just some slight redness and soreness. It's the first time I've had a reaction since I started the shots five weeks ago.

It's also the first time I haven't had a Toblerone bar after having the shot.

A coincidence? I think not!

  1. Heheh ... good chocolate is good for everything, IMHO. Hope the soreness clears quickly. :o)

  2. Haha! Dropping the Tylenol is one thing – dropping the Toblerone, well, that's just something else entirely.

Personally, I think a study needs to be done...

  3. I often have a mild injection site reaction. I'll have to make sure I stock up on Toblerone.

  4. ....no, I don't own shares in the company....

    :)

P.S. Helen, I hope it works for you.

P.P.S. I just Tweeted that I believe that chocolate is an essential food.

  5. Chocolate IS an essential food! Hope your injection site is feeling better. I regularly get redness and annoying itching from my humira shot. Yuck.

  6. Hmmm... Well, I sure hope you find a way to avoid future site reactions. If the chocolate doesn't do the trick, you might try benadryl :)

  7. I like your thinking... I just started shots myself. I'm on my second Month of Humira and I like your ritual... I'll have to come up with one.
Hope the redness/sorness is already gone :)

  8. Hey WarmSocks! We'll see what happens next week; if redness/soreness ensues once again, I'll try the Benadryl the following week. Thanks for the advice! L

Hi Rebecca, Thanks for dropping by. The ritual is a good thing! The soreness has gone, the redness is lingering, but I'm sure it will fade away soon. Take care and good luck with the Humira! :) Laurie

  9. Hey Pony! Chocolate & ice cream & pie – in my humble opinion. Why is it that foods that taste so good aren't good for you? (OK, you could make an argument for dark chocolate...)

  10. Most common side effect of Enbrel. I used benedryl also...topical. Reactions eventually subsided. But Toblerone might work better.

  11. It's just weird that it's happened now, 5 weeks in. And personally, I prefer Toblerone to Benedryl...just sayin'!! Lol!

  12. Thank you for making me laugh!! I think I should start to have chocolate after my Enbrel - it would be a good incentive to get through the shot!

I look forward to reading more.

  13. Hi Megan,

So glad I could make you laugh! I've needed some laughs a great deal myself over this past week, so I'm very, very happy to share them out!

And thanks for dropping by my blog. I'm happy to find your blog (yum beavertails!) and look forward to reading more of it, too. Hope you make it through the rest of winter there in Ottawa. Spring is on its way, never fear!
